The Thrill of Communication

August 14, 2007

It’s amazing the remorse that comes from not having posted for a while; chalk it up to an explosion in our public relations business, which straddles traditional and new media [execution + an-escalating-learning curve]; a child off to college and the discovery of other blogs about the Networked Economy  = more reading , learning, joining in conversations.

Contrast that feeling to the thrill of communication I felt today when reading  Dan Greenfield’s colorful and valuable August 13th post, “Conversion and Evangelism: Gnomedex 2007 Take-Aways,”  having just finished writing an article this morning about how to join The Conversation. Dan mixed with people at the show who (unknown to them) are my mentors and hey, Dan was inspired to blog by the Israel/Scobel book Naked Conversations, just like me!

Now I know what Anne Morrow Lindbergh may have felt when she wrote of the thrill of communication during the Lindbergh’s survey flights   , and Charles rocked the wings in greeting as their bi-plane swept away, above the crowd like ants on the ground.  Someone waved back.  A thrill of communication.

The thrill of communication, which many of us first experienced through traditional media; is one of the common denominators between the existing and the emerging.  Thanks to the folks at Adweek for synopsizing Deloitte & Touche’s report  on the old and the new:  “State of the Media Democracy.”

Wishing you the thrill of communication.
